EMPOWER AND MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION TO ADULT AND WORKING LIFE WITH INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL 

Emotional literacy and skills provide young people, families and communities with the ability to form, build and maintain positive relationships, manage strong feelings, and develop skills of self-control, empathy and resilience.

We are enhancing young people’s emotional well-being through pro-active work in schools, with teacher, parents and in the wider community. Promoting the benefits of enhancing emotional literacy is seen as the process through which young people can acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills to recognise and manage their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, demonstrate caring and concern for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, make responsible decisions and handle interpersonal situations effectively.

 

· Promote social and emotional health and wellbeing through creative learning

· Increase parents and carers engagement and involvement

· Build parenting capacity and strengthen protective factors

· Help with preparation for adulthood and independent living

· Increase awareness of adolescence and youth development issues

 

 

EDUCATIONAL

ATTAINMENT

Engage and inspire young people to be aware of their personal assets, talents and potential

 

Educational aspiration and attainment is the key to breaking the generational cycle of dependency, low income, deprivation, and poverty. Starting earlier through proactive education outreach programs in schools and in the community is key to tackling the flow and increasing severity need from universal and mainstreamed services to more costly additional and targeted support. 

 

We are encouraging young people to explore the connections between their educational aspirations and attainment, learning and earnings, and the importance of increasing their knowledge, understanding and skills so to work toward realizing their potential and achieving their ambitions in life and work.

 

We deliver a program of activities, advice, personal support and guidance, to address internal factors, such as self-belief, self-esteem, confidence and resilience and external factors such as school, home, family and peer influences, all of which and other socio-economic factors combine to determine if a young person make the connection to their educational aspiration and attainment and their success in later life.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop curriculum based interactive educational resources

  • Extend in school learning mentoring support to raise aspirations

  • Support personalised and e-learning agenda in schools and at home

  • Support extended services provision in schools to improve participation

  • Promote the principle of life-long learning to raise achievement

EMPLOYABILITY

SKILLS

Enable and support young people in the development of their  emotional, educational, employment and entrepreneurial skills 

Employment with real progression opportunities helps to build self-esteem and confidence and engenders a strong sense of purpose and significance.  

We are working to help young people to recognise the importance of being economically active and to be engaged in meaningful employment and training. They are encouraged to aspire to be financially and economically independent in order to attain a certain quality and standard of life, recognising the impact on their future prosperity and material well-being.

We are working to improve employment and work readiness skills, providing increased job and career opportunities. Young adults will understand that the workplace is a dynamic, constantly changing environment that requires adaptability and certain essential skills.  We are encouraging them to stay on the path to success and take personal responsibility to work towards their vocational goals and ambitions. It is about inspiring them and increasing their motivation for improving their educational aspirations and attainment.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

SKILLS

EQUIP AND HELP DEVELOP YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME VOICES OF INSPIRATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND INFLUENCE​​

 

Imagination, creativity, innovation and enterprise create wealth and in term deliver economic prosperity, opportunity and social mobility.  It enables people to capitalise on their talent and ability to make a significant difference to the quality of their lives, family, community and the wider economy.  

 

We are working to encourage and empower young people to develop their enterprise, business acumen and financial capabilities, linked closely to their own areas of interest and strengths. We helping young people to increase their confidence and capacity to assess and take risks, which are essential to them enjoying and achieving and fulfilling their potential as active citizens, contributing to the wider economy.  Young people will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in personal budgeting and money management, with access to financial planning advice and increased ability and confidence to become critical consumers of goods and services. 

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Establish multimedia, graphic design, PR and marketing enterprise zones

  • Provide access to social enterprise business start-up grants or loans

  • Increase opportunities to access business planning and mentoring support

  • Develop strategic partnerships with universities and businesses

  • Establish a social enterprise incentive and reward scheme
